Trust Falls Minus the Trust
Hal said, “It’s like one of those trust falls …. minus the trust!” He was speaking about gravity and falling.
“Gravity,” he said, “which is normally quiet, becomes rough. It takes over; you cede control. It’s a betrayal. I don’t remember handing over the reins.”
There is a Body
There is a body. It is somebody I live with. Some body I love.
This body doesn’t work as well as it used to. It’s bent over and twisted – in a beautiful way, but in a way that makes it harder for everyone.
It is a heavy body, hard to move around, slow to change directions, slow to pick things up, slow to talk – but thoughtful.
It is heavy with words. Words pile up inside and come out when they are ready. Sometimes easily, sometimes not. The words are magnificent, like the body. Unlike the body, they are not hard to move around. They’re agile, light, luminous, playful, easy to pick up and shift around.
