Shipwreck in the Forest

I originally set out to create a website that would function as a chronological visual memoir, but I soon realized that it had become more like a collection of stories. I kept adding categories and moving pieces from one section to another. No sooner did I think I had the categories down than I realized, “No, that’s not it at all!” And then I would re-shuffle them.

At times, the organizing seemed almost random. Like I could come back the next day and shift everything to a totally new configuration - and it would make just as much (or as little) sense.

I hadn’t set out to make paintings or drawings to fit specific themes. But the personalities (colors, lines, shapes, and textures) of each work, like with Harry Potter’s sorting hat, slowly began to find their place in the order.

You can think of each category (life cycle, the body, etc.) as a grouping of these stories. I’ve provided the images. Sometimes I tell (at least part of) the story. Sometimes, I leave it up to you.
